Photography and writing are my two favourite mediums to support conservation, to bring awareness and attention to incredible projects around the world. I offer both creative consulting and content options for my clients - some of whom include African Parks Network, Chengeta Wildlife, Nyayo Magazine and other conservation publications.

For commissioned stories, photographic content and collaborations please send me an email - I look forward to hearing from you!

I know we shouldn’t have favourites, but nonetheless, some of my fav storytelling, exhibition projects and features include:

The Zambian Art of Togetherness

Commissioned by Nyayo Magazine for Volume 3: Zambia, with By Life Connected

Kafue-2.jpg

Inspired by the wonderful Kellie and Lars from By Life Connected, who have embarked on an inspiringly daunting conservation mission, the article takes on the form of an interview, exploring the realities of practising conservation in the raw and wild Kafue National Park, Zambia. To read it, you’ll have to buy the beautiful magazine that is Volume 3 but be warned, you’ll soon find yourself buying Volumes 1&2 as you get lost in wonderful stories of guides and conservation in Africa. This is perhaps one of my most exciting commissions yet! Also, see if you recognise some of my photos in the mag… :)

Protecting Pangolins

Pangolins - you maybe have come across them in 2020 as they took the international spotlight following unconfirmed links between them and Covid19. The most trafficked mammal, these beautiful little dragons are at the heart of incredibly intricate social, ecological, cultural, historical dynamics…and a highly efficient illegal trafficking network. The pangolin may seem irrelevant to many - a single, foreign species - but its plight is the symbol of our relationship with our ecosystems, and a fight that we cannot bear to lose. On assignment for Chengeta Wildlife, an incredible organisation working to train, mentor and protect rangers across Africa whilst empowering communities, I explore the realms of counter-trafficking, local indigenous culture and how working with and listening to communities is crucial to protect a fast-disappearing species. Not the traditional ‘what is a pangolin’ article, and so I hope you find it interesting!

Golden Malawi

Commissioned by the wonderful Nyayo Magazine, a designer publication celebrating the guides of Africa, it was a pleasure to retrace my experience in the stunning Liwonde National Park. Banana bread, cheetah surprise, Children in the Wild, I adored writing this piece, the experience of which physically took me back to one of my favourite places on the continent. I hope you enjoy it, and that our paths will cross in Malawi one day!

An Interview with the Crazy Snakeman

Herpatologist Lorenzo Seneci, aka the Crazy Snakeman kindly asked to interview me on all things conservation, photography, education and my other passion, literature - it was a great opportunity for me to go in depth about not only what I do, but equally properly draw the connections I make between nature and culture and why I believe celebrating humanity is as important as loving the natural world. A more philosophical and literary take on conservation, though conservation is an over-arching concept connecting all aspects of life, from the obvious natural one to politics, anthropology, economics, history….I hope you enjoy this read, and the poems! Published in Feb 2020.

The Leopard Named Bwana

The Conservation Journal Magazine asked me to write an article for their Wildlife Photography section, on how I related my work to conservation. Naturally, I chose to write about Bwana, my first leopard encounter in the wild...he holds a very special place in my heart.

On the Hunt for Mountain Gorillas

A new article for Conjour, about photographing gorillas and conservation implications around Virunga National Park. Encountering gorilla was an incredibly humbling experience, especially in the DRC. Have a read and let me know :)

Conservation: Making it Count

An article for Conjour, going back to the basics of Nature Conservation, tracing its historical evolution, what conservation means for us today alongside the ethical considerations and new set of values accompanying its paradigme shifts. How can we reconnect with our environment?

Journey to Africa.PNG

A Journey to Africa

My first solo exhibition in London - 20 prints, 20 frames, 20 stories to raise awareness and funds for conservation.

I wanted something holistic, that, much like Africa, captivated the audience sensually. Sound, vision, touch, taste… Africa was in Camden for the space of a night. Read on for the elaboration and behind the scenes of this project!
